Boys and Girls Lacrosse Coming to Selected Pasco County High Schools
“With some area high schools joining the FHSAA in the sport of lacrosse within Pasco County will be a huge step in growing the sport of lacrosse in Florida,” said David Mazursky, President of PCLA. “Our neighbors in Hillsborough County took that step a few years ago, and we’re looking forward to offering boys and girls attending Pasco Schools the opportunity to play lacrosse for their high schools. Interest from students has been fantastic, and we are actively looking for local business sponsors to help support this cause.”
Youth lacrosse participation has expanded throughout Pasco County over the past 10 years, and there are thriving club programs in Wesley Chapel and Trinity. Wesley Chapel’s Boys and Girls teams won the Florida Gulf Coast Lacrosse League championship in 2016.
The initial contract between PCLA and Pasco Schools targets the following schools for initial FHSAA certification: Anclote High, Land O’ Lakes High, J.W. Mitchell High, Sunlake High, Wesley Chapel High, Wiregrass Ranch High, Zephyrhills High, and “GGG” (new unnamed school in Wesley Chapel).
Parents and students can go to www.pascolax.org for more information, and complete the Player Interest Form to receive notifications and information as the program progresses. Donations to help fund lacrosse for one of the selected teams of choice can be made at: www.pascolax.org/donations-per-team.html
Companies interested in sponsoring their local schools can contact Eric Handman at email@example.com for more information.
